Disciplines

Disciplines represent the martial arts styles your club offers -- Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, Muay Thai, Wrestling, Karate, or any other combat sport. Each discipline can have its own belt system for graduation tracking and is linked to classes for scheduling and attendance.

Navigate to Settings > Disciplines to manage your disciplines.

Viewing your disciplines

The disciplines page shows each discipline as a card in a grid layout. Each card displays:

  • Discipline name -- The name of the martial art (e.g., "Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu").
  • Classes -- A list of classes that use this discipline, including the class name and venue (when your club has multiple venues). A green "In use" badge appears when the discipline has classes assigned.
  • No classes -- If no classes use this discipline yet, a note indicates it is not currently in use.

Creating a discipline

Click the Create discipline button to add a new martial art to your club. You will need to provide:

  • Name -- The discipline name as it should appear throughout the platform (e.g., "BJJ No-Gi" or "Muay Thai").

Once created, the discipline becomes available for assignment to classes and for belt graduation tracking.

Editing a discipline

Click the Edit button on any discipline card to modify its details. You can update the discipline name. Changes are reflected everywhere the discipline is referenced, including class listings and member profiles.

Belt systems

When the graduation feature is enabled in your general settings, each discipline can have a belt ranking system. Belts define the progression path for your students. A typical BJJ belt system might include:

  • White Belt
  • Blue Belt
  • Purple Belt
  • Brown Belt
  • Black Belt

Each belt level can include stripe positions (typically 0-4 stripes) to mark progress between belt promotions. The belt system is used in:

  • Member profiles -- Showing the current rank for each discipline.
  • Members list -- Displaying belt rank in the Graduation column.
  • Graduation tracking -- Recording promotions and tracking attendance requirements.

How disciplines connect to classes

When you create a class, you select which discipline it belongs to. This connection is used for:

  • Filtering -- Members and admins can filter the timetable by discipline.
  • Lead management -- When a lead expresses interest in a specific discipline, only classes matching that discipline are shown in the trial scheduling flow.
  • Plan limits -- If a plan has a sports limit, the system counts how many distinct disciplines a member is enrolled in.
  • Attendance tracking -- Class attendance is attributed to the discipline for graduation and analytics purposes.

Single discipline clubs

If your club teaches only one martial art, you still need at least one discipline configured. Many filters and selection menus are hidden automatically when only one discipline exists, keeping the interface clean.

Removing a discipline

Disciplines that have classes assigned to them cannot be deleted to preserve data integrity. To remove a discipline, first reassign or delete all classes that use it.
